I've never gone to a Starbucks on my own, so I've wondered...

How does a blind person go doctor up their drink? Starbucks is usually so busy, do you ask a barista to help?

I usually get a tripple tall Americano with room. I like a packet of sugar in it, some powdered vinilla and cream. I can't imagine going to the station and doing it all on my own.

How about you more independent confident people? *smile*

me thinks, if you are disabled and therefore might be unable to spice up your own brew, i think the teller should be quite willing to help you with it. i know i'd be quick to ask. or another way to do this is to go to a nice little local place like I do and get the personal service. heeh

Totally agree with post 2. Besides, the smaller places might taste better than Starbucks.

Starbucks is good, but smaller coffee houses do have their own charm, and are sometimes better tasting. Anyway, in a really busy coffee house, I definitely have the barista help me doctor up the drink. They can do a lot of that from behind the counter, so they don't usually have to come out to help with that. Or, if they do, nine times out of ten, they're friendly about it.

I'm with y'all on the smaller coffee house possibly being better and supporting the local guy... So far, I haven't found one! I'm a Starbucks snob...grin! It started in Seattle and has had brilliant success, so in a way, I feel like I'm supporting that little guy that started it all in my local Seattle. *Smile,*

The town we just moved to, I found out of a local place and they brew their own coffee right there on site. I was so excited to try them out! Oy, I wasn't impressed. The coffee was so-so, and there was no ambiance, no charm about the place.

I should ask my sister her thoughts on the subject. She works at corporate.

*Grin,* I could always cary travel sizes of the items I need, but that would be silly, yes?

well the thing is, you're not helping the little siattle guy any more. if you went to the place where the first micdonalds was set up, would you think you were helping the little guy by purchasing there? no! and star bucks is shit. i went to one in london, and the coffee was the worst, and I mean the worst I've ever had. mcdonalds included.

*Grin,* ahh, the great coffee debate! And to think I use to love foldgers.

I love my freshly ground, starbucks verona every morning! Very bold and delicious! I tell ya, this coffee grinder is one of our best purchases.

I do have some mocha Joe's in the house to try. Smells yummy, hope it tastes it.

Ya know I remember some friends that lived in a smallish town in Utah, and they got permition to put braille labels on the soda dispensers. That was like over 15 years ago...sheesh. *smile*

The few times I have gone by myself, I have just told the front to put them in for me. I'd tell them, you know, I want so or so. Or I'd go at the sugar and cream table and wait for people to come by and ask them, "So, which one is Half and Half" "Which is the chocolate" or "Okay, where is the sugar? Is that regular?"

I have only gone to one with people a few times. One time was more trouble than going by myself. I went with my sister and her friend. I thought we could hang out, but it was a bad decision, because I am talking about going to a coffee house with fucking ten years olds. So, not only did I have to worry about the coffee here, but the little... monkeys too. God, were my sister and her friend a handful. So, I was sitting there and they were being little abnoxious playful children. It's like... And I am related to one of them... Hmmmmm... Oh, god!

So, I basically had my sister and her silly friend Cassie tell me which was which before they started the playing around.

The barista has always made my drink at cofffee places, including Starbucks. That's what they get paid for.

I am a coffee fanatic and have made it my business to try every kind out there, though I've only had a few so far. In any case, I prefer local places too. I'd hope that wherever I go, they brew their own coffee or what's the point? I could get gourmet and have it at home. Personally, I'm dying to try 8 o'clock of all things and waiting on a very old percolator to find it's way over here... I'm gonna have so much fun with that thing! We all love the pod maker that Mom got recently too and Green Mountain, yum! Oddly enough, Mom told me that there was a taste survey done a little awhile ago in which people were given coffee from different places and then asked to rate it on taste without knowing where it came from. Star Bucks was very low on the list. The winner was Macdonalds!

As for me, I never really go anywhere totally on my own, unless it's to/from a place but I'd probably ask as well. That whole thing sounds way too confusing.
